The Olympus Shoot & Go represents the simple efficiency of photography. Olympus has offered this 35mm fixed focus model since 1993. The camera with a plastic housing was produced in China. It is a very simple model and was therefore also quite cheap.

In the center of the device is a fixed lens with a focal length of 34 mm, divided into three elements. You save yourself the focus process, as this is always between 1.2 m and infinity. However, the manual highlights that a distance of 1.2 to 3 meters is ideal.

The exposure adjustment switch allows you to choose between ISO 100/200 and ISO 400, while the shutter speed is always 1/100. The same lever also activates the internal flash. Interestingly, the low-light warning function found on some Olympus models is missing here.

Two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) supply the Olympus Shoot & Go with energy, although these are only required for flash operation. All other functions are mechanical, including the thumbwheel film transport.

Suitable films for the Olympus Shoot & Go

The Olympus Shoot & Go relies on traditional 35mm film rolls. Even though digital photography is dominant these days and the camera is no longer in production, such films are still available.

The Kodak Gold 200* is a top recommendation for color lovers, especially at ISO 200 settings. Monochrome enthusiasts, on the other hand, often prefer the Kodak TRI-X 400*, even if it does not exactly correspond to the ISO 200 standard.

The mentioned films are popular not only because of their longevity but also because of their premium quality. Other well-known manufacturers are Adox, Rollei and Foma.

The C-41 development process is considered the standard for color film. A specific developer, e.g. the Kodak XTOL, is recommended for black-and-white images.
