The Olympus OM-2000 is a SLR 35mm camera. It was introduced in 1997 and built by Cosina for Olympus. The Japanese camera manufacturer also produced various similar models for different brands at that time. To what extent this model belongs to the Olympus OM series is up to you. The camera has its advantages and disadvantages.
The camera comes with the usual Olympus OM bayonet. Almost all Olympus lenses with this bayonet can be used. Additionally, two Cosina-built zoom lenses were offered for the camera. Other accessories, like the film backs or TTL flashes, can only be used with the camera to a limited extent or not at all.
The 35mm camera has an exposure meter. This is designed for an ISO range of 25 to 3200. The film speed is read out via the DX code on the film cartridge. The SLR determines the exposure by metering through the lens (TTL). The aperture and exposure time can be freely set according to the photographer’s preferences.
The camera has a bulb setting. An external flash can be used on the PC flash port or hot shoe for pictures. Multiple exposures are easily possible with the camera.
The Olympus OM-2000 has a thread for a tripod and cable release. It also has a self-timer. With a size of 13.8 x 8.7 x 5.1 cm, the camera body weighs 430 grams. The power needed for the camera comes from two LR44 / SR44 batteries (eBay / Amazon*). However, the shutter also works without power.
Films for the Olympus OM-2000
Nothing works with the Olympus OM-2000 without 35mm film. 35mm films are still made by various producers. For black and white images, you can reach for the Ilford Delta 400*. For color images, the Fujifilm Superia 200* is an option.
The color film is processed in the C-41 development process. This development process is done by all photo labs that offer 35mm film development. Most drugstore chains in Germany offer the development of color films.
