The Nikon Zoom 600 is a snapshot camera. The 35mm camera was built by Nikon from 1998 on. The model was also sold in some markets around the world as Nikon Lite Touch Zoom 110.
The 35 mm camera has a fixed zoom lens. 38 mm to 110 mm is the zoom range of the lens. The maximum aperture is f/4 respectively f/10.8. You don’t have to focus manually with the Nikon Zoom 600. The camera has an autofocus, which is activated when the shutter release button is pressed slightly. The closest focusing distance with this lens is 86 cm.
Taking pictures is made easier by the built-in light meter. It is designed for an ISO range from 50 to 1600. The film speed is read out via the DX code. If no code is available, the value is set to ISO 100. The 35mm camera has an automatic exposure system. The photographer cannot select the aperture and exposure time.
A built-in flash is available for taking pictures in low light conditions. The range of the flash is specified as 16 meters. The flash recharge time is about eight seconds. There is a mode for reducing red eye in photographs.
The Nikon Zoom 600 has a self-timer with a ten second lead time. There is also a thread for a tripod. The dimensions of the Nikon Zoom 600 are 12.7 x 6.7 x 5 cm. It weighs 270 grams. A CR 123A battery (eBay / Amazon*) is responsible for the power supply. According to the manufacturer, the batteries should be sufficient for nine rolls of film. This specification refers to the use of the flash for half of the pictures.
Films for the Nikon Zoom 600
What films do you need for the Nikon Zoom 600? It need 35mm film. This type of film is still being produced and can be processed by most photo laboratories without any problems. Possible films for the Nikon Zoom 600 are the Kodak ColorPlus 200* and the Ilford Delta 400*.
The development process for the color film is the C-41 process. This development process is carried out by all photo laboratories offering the development of 35mm films. The black and white film must be processed in according developer.
The negatives of the photo camera have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. With a normal film (135-36) usually 36 photos are possible. The films in the camera are automatically rewound to the next frame. The film is also rewound automatically when the film is full.
Nikon Zoom 600 QD
In addition to the normal version, a Quartz Date variant was also offered. The Zoom 600 QD is able to imprint the date of recording into the image. There is also a panorama mode. But this is not a panorama camera. Only two bars are pushed into the photo and thus the impression of a panorama is created. A Nikon Lite Touch Zoom 110 QD was also offered.
