The Nikon FM2n is a 35mm camera. It was produced since 1983 and replaced the Nikon FM2.

The lenses of the Nikon FM2n can be easily interchanged. This is possible trough the Nikon F lens mount. This lens mount was developed in the 1950s. From that time on it became the standard at Nikon and was not abandoned with the introduction of an autofocus.

Lenses are not just made by Nikon itself but also other brands. Beware that not all modern camera lenses can be used with the old film cameras. It is necessary to focus the lens manually on the desired subject.

The 35mm camera has an exposure meter. It can be used for films in an ISO range of 12 to 6400. The exposure measurement is performed through the lens. The correct exposure is automatically set by the camera. The aperture and exposure time can be freely adjusted according to the photographers wishes.

The Nikon FM2n has a bulb setting. A flash unit can be used via the hot shoe or the PC flash connection. The Nikon FM2n has a built-in self-timer. It also comes with a thread for a cable release and tripod.

The power supply is provided by two LR44 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).

Films for the Nikon FM2n

The Nikon FM2n was built for the 35mm format. 35mm films are still produced today and can be developed in most photo labs. A 35mm film for color pictures is the Kodak Ultramax 400*. A possible black and white film is the Kodak T-Max 400*.

The color film is being developed in the C-41 process. The C-41 process is standardized and is offered by most development laboratories.

The negatives of Nikon FM2n have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. The film in the camera must be winded manually, as there is no automatic film transport.
