The Nikon F6 is a professional SLR camera. It is the successor of the Nikon F5. It was introduced in 2004 and is one of the last film models for the Nikon F system. The housing, which is very similar to the D2 series, was developed by Giorgetto Giugiaro.
The lenses of the 35mm camera are interchangeable. It comes with a Nikon F bayonet. This lens mount was presented in 1959. Over the years it has been further developed by Nikon. Other manufacturers of suitable lenses are Sigma, Tokina, Tamron and Samyang. However, not all lenses are compatible with the old film cameras. The camera has an autofocus. It comes with 11 selectable autofocus zones.
The Nikon F6 is equipped with a built-in light meter. It is designed for films in a range from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The film speed is read from the 35mm camera by the DX code on the film cartridge.
The correct exposure is measured through the lens of the SLR camera. The aperture and exposure time can be set automatically. Both the desired exposure time and the f-stop can be set by the user. The settings are shown on the display at the top.
The photo camera has a bulb mode. In this mode, the shutter is released as long as the shutter release button is pressed. With the PC flash connection and the hot shoe, it is possible to use a flash light. The Nikon F6 has a built-in self-timer and a thread for a tripod.
At a weight of 975 grams the size of the Nikon F6 is 11,9 x 15,7 x 7,8 cm. The camera needs two CR123A batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Nikon F6
Photographic films are required for the Nikon F6. Films for the 35mm format are used. 35mm films are still produced today. They can be developed in most photo laboratories. A possible film for color photography is the Kodak Gold 200*. One option for b/w images is the Ilford FP4 Plus*.
The color film is processed in the C-41 process. This development process is available at almost every photo lab. The negatives of Nikon F6 are 24 mm x 36 mm big. The film is automatically winded by the camera.
