The Nikon F4P is a camera from Nikon. It is a single lens reflex camera. It was sold to professional users like press photographers.
The lens of the Nikon F4P is exchangeable. Lenses with a Nikon F lens mount can be used. This lens connector was first introduced in 1959. Despite the introduction of the autofocus (some years later), the bayonet has not been changed.
Other makers of compatible lenses include Sigma, Tokina, Tamron and Samyang. But be aware that not all modern camera lenses can be used with the old film cameras. The camera has an autofocus.
For photographing, the Nikon F4P an exposure meter. It can be used for films in an ISO range of 6 to 6400. The camera reads the ISO value via the DX code on the cartridge. The correct exposure is measured through the lens of the SLR camera. Exposure settings are set automatically by the camera. The aperture and shutter speed are freely adjustable.
The Bulb mode can be used for long exposures. The shutter can remain open for a variable time. A external flash can be connected via the PC flash port or Hot Shoe. The Nikon F4P has a thread for a tripod and self-timer. AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) are required to operate the camera.
Films for the Nikon F4P
The Nikon F4P is an analogue camera and needs to be equipped with 35mm film. 35mm films are still being produced and are developed by most photo laboratories without any problems. A 35mm film for color pictures is the Kodak Portra 400*. A possible black and white film is the Kodak T-Max 100*.
The color film is a negative film and is processed in the C-41 development process. The C-41 process is standardized and is offered by most development laboratories.
The Nikon F4P exposes an area of 24 mm x 36 mm. The film in the camera automatically winded to the next frame.
The production of the Nikon F4P was ended. Nowadays the camera can only be found used. The value of the camera depends on the condition of the camera.
