Accessory manufacturer Godox, known primarily for its flash units and continuous lighting solutions, is expanding its range with a mobile device for photo prints. With the Godox P100, a compact photo printer appears that brings digital images from your smartphone directly to paper. The device is aimed at photographers and smartphone users who want to capture their images as physical keepsakes in everyday life, while traveling, or at events.
Technically, the manufacturer relies on the proven method of thermal sublimation printing. A print head with 1,256 heating elements ensures a resolution of 300 dpi and can display up to 16.7 million colors. The thermal transfer of color layers creates fine color gradients and clear details.
Immediately after the actual printing process, the device applies an automatic protective coating to the image. This lamination protects the finished print from moisture, dust, fingerprints, and everyday wear and tear, ensuring longer durability of the paper.
The connection to the mobile device is wireless via Bluetooth, with an integrated NFC chip enabling quick pairing by simply placing the smartphone on the device. The Godox Cam app, available for iOS and Android, serves as the control center.
The application offers various design options such as frames, templates, collages, and filters. Additionally, the software includes predefined formats for passport and application photos with interchangeable background colors. The app interface also shows the current battery level and allows you to check the remaining paper supply.
For consumables, Godox uses closed all-in-one cartridges that contain both the photo paper and the color ribbon and can be inserted into the side of the device. The paper used has a format of 97 by 53 millimeters, while the actual printable area is 86 by 53 millimeters.
With external dimensions of 142.5 by 86.8 by 26.8 millimeters and a weight of approximately 320 grams, the printer can be easily transported in small bags. Power is supplied by an integrated lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 800 mAh, which is charged via a USB-C port.
The scope of delivery of the P100 includes, in addition to the printer itself, a storage bag, a USB-C charging cable, and a starter cartridge with ten sheets of photo paper. Additional cartridge packs with twenty sheets are available as accessories.
