APX 100 and APX 400 Black and White Film with New Material from AgfaPhoto

There will likely soon be a new AgfaPhoto APX 100 and AgfaPhoto APX 400.

Soon there will apparently be a new APX 100 and 400 from AgfaPhoto.

But first, from the beginning: the APX 100 (Amazon) is a popular black and white film. It is quite affordable and delivers solid images. Currently, it still contains old APX material from Agfa's production, but the Leverkusen plant hasn't produced films for years.

Now it seems there is no more material left. This is according to Mirko Böddecker, head of Fotoimpex/Adox, in his own forum. Tomorrow, July 18, 2013, the last APX 100 35mm films from Leverkusen production are expected to go on sale.

The good news, however, is that there will be new material, so the APX 100 will continue. The AgfaPhoto APX 400, which has been sold out for quite some time, will also be re-released with new material. A medium format version has not been announced.

In the next few days, the new stock is expected to arrive at Fotoimpex. The price, which many loved the film for, has been increased. In the online shop of the photo retailer, a roll (36 exposures) of the new APX 100 costs 3.81 euros (from 10 pieces 3.56 euros) and the APX 400 costs 4.17 euros (from 10 pieces 3.81 euros).

Who manufactures the new films, e.g., Adox, Foma, Fujifilm (who already supply the color films for AgfaPhoto films), or another manufacturer, is not yet known. The films were produced in 2013, so they are not old leftovers. It is also unclear how much the new black and white film differs from the old one, so it can't hurt to stock up.

Should there be any news on this topic, we will of course report on it here.

Update | 18.07.2013

From Adox, the new films are already coming, so one not.
