MovieStill 500T

The MovieStill 500T is a color negative film. It is sold in Brazil. Originally designed for the analogue production of cinema films, this material is offered by Kodak. You can also purchase it as “Kodak VISION3 500T”.

Unlike digital photography, film shooting requires specific types of film for tungsten and daylight, as easy white balance adjustment is not possible.

This film is specifically designed for a light temperature of 3200 Kelvin and offers accurate color reproduction in this condition. However, it should be noted that when used in daylight conditions, a bluish tint may appear in the images.

If you want to use the film in daylight, a suitable filter can be mounted in front of the lens. However, note that this reduces the sensitivity of the film and needs to be corrected.

Aaccording to the Kodak data sheet, the sensitivity is 500 when used under artificial light (3200K) and reduces to 125 when using a filter under daylight.

Processing the film

To obtain the final photos, the film must be processed using the C-41 process, although Kodak materials are typically processed using the ECN-2 process. However, due to the removal of the Remjet layer on the base material, the C-41 process is also applicable.

Processing in a photography studio is easier, although the C-41 process can also be done independently using the appropriate chemicals. In contrast to black and white films, the development process for color films is standardized. One option would be to submit the film to Rossmann or DM for development with the MovieStill 500T. After development, you receive the negative strips with the captured images.

There is the option to make prints in various sizes after recording or to digitize the recordings. Many photo studios allow you to make prints. The negative strips can be scanned and digitized for digital post-processing.

There are various devices available for digitizing negatives with different functions and quality to suit different budgets. The digital recordings can then be digitally post-processed or distributed on social networks.

Formats

The MovieStill 500T is only available in 35mm format and offers space for 30 standard images (24×36 mm) on the color film. Producers such as Lomography, Zenit and Agfa offer or offered suitable cameras for the 35mm format.

Storage

The storage conditions of the unexposed film can affect the final quality of the photos. Ideally, the film should be stored in cool and dry places while avoiding areas with high humidity or direct sunlight.

To prevent potential reductions in quality, it is recommended that the exposed film be developed promptly. Kodak recommends developing the material within six months, which also applies to the MovieStill 500T.
