Marix Color 800T

The Marix 800Tungsten, 800T for short, is a unique color negative film that is characterized by its high sensitivity of ISO 800/30° and its special adaptation to artificial lighting conditions.

Originally developed for use in the film industry, it is manufactured by Kodak in the USA. The material can be found under the name Kodak Vision3 500T. Marix is ​​a brand of Cloudoc Corporation from Osaka, Japan.

Special features and technical details

The basis of the Marix Color 800T is the proven Kodak Vision3 film technology, which is valued for its high quality and color accuracy. However, unlike traditional color negative films, the 800T has been specifically optimized for artificial lighting conditions. This means that it develops its full performance under artificial light with a color temperature of 3200K and delivers particularly warm, atmospheric colors.

Another special feature of the Marix 800T is the removal of the Remjet layer, a special coating that is used to prevent halos in cinema films. Removing this layer makes the film accessible for processing in conventional C-41 chemicals, making processing much easier and more cost-effective.

Application options and creative scope

The Marix 800T is great for shooting in low light, especially indoors with artificial lighting. Thanks to its high sensitivity, it allows you to take photos without a flash, which means you can capture a more natural lighting atmosphere. The warm color scheme of the film gives the images a special charm and a certain nostalgia.

In addition to classic photography, the Marix 800T is also used in experimental photography. Unique effects can be achieved by pushing or pulling the film, i.e. overexposing or underexposing it in combination with adapted development. For example, this can result in grainier images with increased contrast or softer images with pastel colors.

Availability and formats

The Marix 800T is available as a 35mm film (135) in various pack sizes. There is a 24 and 36 image variant. Since it is a relatively specialized film, it cannot be found in every camera store, but it can easily be ordered online in Japan.
