The LomoApparat Chiyoda Edition is a special version of Lomography’s 35mm camera. It was presented in April 2023.

The case is covered in cream-colored leather. The name of the model is taken from a historic district of Tokyo. In terms of functionality, it is similar to other models.

Equipped with a permanently installed 21mm wide-angle lens that offers a maximum aperture of f/10, the camera enables wide shots with pronounced contrasts and characteristic vignetting.

There is no need for autofocus with this camera because the distance is fixed. In order to achieve sharp and detailed images, a minimum distance of 50 cm from the subject should be maintained.

The LomoApparat Chiyoda Edition does not have a light meter, so the exposure cannot be determined automatically. The aperture is also fixed, while the exposure time can be selected between 1/100 s (N) and Bulb (B). In bulb mode, the shutter remains open until the shutter button is released.

An integrated flash ensures good image quality in difficult lighting conditions or low light, with a range of 0.5 to 2 meters at ISO 100. The flash can be deactivated if necessary and has a frame for color filters to individually color the light.

The camera is equipped with a tripod thread, which is particularly recommended in bulb mode to avoid camera shake. A hand strap can also be attached.

The LomoApparat Chiyoda Edition requires an AA battery (eBay / Amazon*), which is easily available and inexpensive. The power supply is only required for the flash.

Films for the LomoApparat Chiyoda Edition

The LomoApparat Chiyoda Edition is specially designed for and exposes 35mm films. There is a wide range of color and black and white films for this format. Many photographers prefer the Kodak Ultramax 400* for color images and the Ilford XP2 Super* for black and white images.

The color film is developed using the C-41 process, which is available in most photo labs and drugstores. The black and white film can be developed either in a photo lab or at home, with detailed instructions available online.

The negatives of the LomoApparat Chiyoda Edition measure 24 mm x 36 mm. Since the camera does not have an automatic film advance, you have to advance to the next frame manually by using the thumb wheel on the back.
