The Konica Auto S2 is a 35mm camera. It was built in the 60s. It was also available under the name “Revue Auto S22” from Foto Quelle in Germany.
The camera is certainly not one of the most compact and lightest cameras. It weighs 750 grams and measures 138 x 82.2 x 73.5 mm.
The Konica Auto S2 is equipped with a 45 mm f/1.8 Hexanon lens. It consists of 6 elements in 4 groups. How long light passes through the lens is determined by the Copal SVA shutter.
The shutter offers exposure times from 1/500 s to 1 second. A Bulb mode where the shutter stays open as long as the shutter release button, which has a connector for a cable release, is pressed.
The rangefinder camera’s close focus limit is 0.9 meters. The Konica Auto S2’s coupled mixed-image rangefinder helps with manual focusing.
The exposure meter makes it easier to set the exposure. However, it is also possible to use the camera completely manually and use the light meter result only as a guide.
The CdS exposure meter of the Konica Auto S2 is powered by a 1.35 V mercury coin cell (PX 625). This battery is no longer available. If you do without the light meter, you can use the camera without batteries.
If you use a suitable battery in the camera with a higher voltage, there may be slight deviations in the exposure metering. With this in the knob, they can of course be compensated accordingly.
The diameter of the thread around the lens for a filter is 55 mm. There is also a thread for a tripod. A flash can be connected to the flash sync socket, the hot shoe is a cold shoe, so cannot fire the flash.
A self-timer is also available on the Konica Auto S2. A lens hood (hood) is fixed and can be pulled out if needed.
Films for the Konica Auto S2
35mm films are exposed in the Konica Auto S2. There is still a good selection of material for color and black and white images for this film format. Possible films for the model are the Kodak Portra 400* and the AgfaPhoto APX 100*. The latter exposes them with a format of 24×36 mm.
