The Konica Acom-1 is an SLR camera. It was manufactured in a factory in Japan by the Konica company. It was in production from 1976 to 1982. Acom-1 is the name for the Japanese home market. Outside Japan, the model was sold under the name “Konica Autoreflex TC“.
The lenses of the 35mm camera can be interchanged. This is made possible by the Konica AR bayonet. Most often you meet the 35mm camera with the Konica Hexanon AR 50mm / F1.7. On the desired subject you have to focus the lens manually. An autofocus system does not yet have this model.
Instead, there is a built-in light meter. It is designed for films from ISO 25 to ISO 1600. Exposure is metered through the SLR’s lens. The aperture and exposure time can be freely set in manual mode. However, there is also an automatic mode. In this mode, the shutter speed is selected and the camera technology sets the aperture accordingly.
The exposure times range from 1/1000 second to 1/8 second. For long exposures, there is the Bulb mode. Again, the cable release port can be used to avoid camera shake.
The 35mm photo camera can be triggered via self-timer. A lead time of four to ten seconds is possible here. A flash can be connected via the hot shoe or by cable. The sync time is 1/125 second.
The dimensions of the Konica Acom-1 are 13.6 x 9 x 4.5 cm according to the manual. It weighs 510 grams without the lens. There is a thread for a tripod on the bottom of the housing. Power is supplied by two PX625 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Konica Acom-1
The Konica Acom-1 is a 35mm camera and therefore requires 35mm film. The Kodak Portra 160* is a possible color film for the Japanese SLR. Black and white images are possible with the Ilford XP2 Super*. Both films can also convince in test reports and are well suited for daily use. Of course there are many other films from other manufacturers. Suitable film material is also available from Lomography, Rollei, Adox and Foma, among others.
The film transport is not motorized and is therefore done manually after each image. There is a frame counter on the top that shows the number of photos taken. A crank helps with the return transport to the cartridge.
