The Kodak Star 35 sf is a snapshot camera. It was built by Kodak from 1992 to 1995. The model was produced in a factory in Mexico. The camera was aimed more at beginners and is well suited for quick photos in everyday life.
The rounded housing of the camera is somewhat striking. The color is black and the material is plastic. There is an eyelet for a camera strap on the side.
The 35mm camera comes with a fixed focal length. The focal length is unchangeable and is 36mm. The largest available aperture is f/8. The distance setting of the lens is fixed. The optics are protected from external influences by a slider during non-use.
Enough light is provided by the built-in flash. Power is supplied by 2x AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). These batteries are still easy to get and don’t cost much either, with one set being enough for a long time.
Films for the Kodak Star 35 sf
According to the instructions, the Kodak Star 35 sf needs photo films to take pictures. More precisely, 35mm films are needed. 35mm films are still manufactured today. They can be developed in most laboratories. A good choice of film is the Kodak Gold 200* for color pictures and the Ilford HP5* for black and white pictures.
The color film is a color negative film and is developed using the C-41 process. This development process is available at almost every photo lab. The film for monochrome images has to be developed in a black and white developer. Here you can use products from Kodak, Rollei or Ilford, for example.
The exposure area of the 35 mm camera is 24 mm x 36 mm. The film is wound to the next free frame after each press of the shutter release. On the top, a counter shows the number of photos taken. When the end of the film roll is reached, it is wound back into the cartridge. Only when the light-sensitive material is there may the back of the camera be opened with the slider on the side.
