The Kodak Signet Flash 35 is a camera from Kodak. It is a simple snapshot camera with plastic housing. Although the camera is called Signet, it is not part of the original 1950s series.
The lens of the 35mm camera is fixed. The focal length of the lens is specified by the manufacturer as 45 mm. The distance setting of the lens cannot be changed.
The exposure is not measured by the 35mm camera. There is only one ISO setting on the front of the camera. There you have the choice between ISO 100/200 and ISO 400. Depending on the setting the aperture of the camera is changed. The shutter speed will probably remain the same and is probably around 1/100 second.
The Kodak Signet Flash 35 has a built-in flash. The 35mm camera offers the possibility to connect a cable release and has a thread for a tripod. Two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) provide power. The batteries are only necessary for the flash. If you do without the flash, you can take pictures without batteries.
Films for the Kodak Signet Flash 35
You can’t use the camera without photo film The Kodak Signet Flash 35 requires 35mm film. 35mm films are still produced today and can be developed in most laboratories. For black and white 35mm film, the Ilford XP2 Super* is a good choice. For color images you can use the Kodak Gold 200*.
The film is rewound manually in the Kodak Signet Flash 35. There is a thumbwheel on the back of the camera. When the film is full, the film must be wound back into the camera with a crank handle. Then you can open the back and remove the cartridge.
Both films can be used flexibly and are well suited for taking pictures on vacation or in everyday life. The development process for the color film is the C-41 process. The monochrome film is also processed in this process. This development process is offered by most laboratories. The big drugstore chains in Germany offer the development of color films.
