Kodak Royal Gold 25 is a color negative film. It belongs to the Kodak Royal Gold series and was sold by Kodak in the 1990s. It replaced the Kodak Ektar 25 at that time.

The Royal Gold 25 is designed for color photography. It has a sensitivity of ISO 25.

Kodak advertised it as follows:

Like all ROYAL GOLD film, Kodak Royal Gold 25 is designed and produced to meet the needs of experienced and and demanding photographers who expect more from their photographs than general purpose film can provide.

ROYAL GOLD 25 film offers micro-fine grain, extremely high extreme sharpness and the possibility of an extremely high
degree of magnification.

Development of Kodak Royal Gold 25

Once the film is full, it must be developed. It must not come into contact with light beforehand, otherwise all images would be lost. Development, even of old film stock, is offered by many photo labs.

If you want to have full control over the development process, you can do it yourself. For this, one needs the appropriate chemistry. Unlike black-and-white films, the development process for color films is standardized.

In Germany, several large drugstore chains offer a service for developing 35mm films. After the development is completed, the film strips with your own pictures are returned to you.

In the next step, either the negatives can be digitized or prints can be made. Most developing labs directly offer the creation of prints in various sizes as a service.

Digitization

For further digital processing of the photos, one can digitize the film strips by scanning them. With professional photo scanners one can achieve the best scanning result, while scanners for home use are available in different price ranges. After digitizing, one can share the files on various social media platforms or have them produced in printed form.

Formats & Availability

The film was produced in the USA. There, it was offered for 35mm format. There were copies with space for 24 or 36 frames. The cartridges are marked with a DX code. Modern cameras have the ability to read the code applied to the film and automatically set the appropriate film speed. Among the manufacturers that offer / have offered suitable photo cameras for 35mm format are Rollei, Kodak and Yashica.

Alternatives

A color film with a sensitivity of ISO 25 is no longer offered. As an alternative, you can reach for the Kodak Ektar 100*. Another alternative from Kodak is the Kodak Gold 200*.
