The Kodak Pleaser is an instant camera from the 1970s. It was built in the USA by the Eastman Kodak Company. It was a premium version of the Kodak EK2 / Kodak The Handle. Some of the models are refurbished versions of the Kodak Happy Times. You can recognize this by the brown trigger. On other Pleaser models the trigger is orange.

The Kodak Pleaser stands out for its user-friendly features. The majority of the complex setting options known from other cameras are not available here. This uncomplicated handling opens up many possibilities and makes access particularly easy. This makes them the preferred choice for events like celebrations and weddings. It is also a reliable companion when traveling.

When delivered, the essential settings are already configured. Customizable settings for shutter speed and aperture are not provided here. The device is equipped with a fixed lens that has a focal length of 100 mm and a maximum aperture of f/12.7.

In contrast to common smartphones, this model does not have a zoom function. A minimum distance of 120 cm is required for clear recordings.

For shooting in low light environments, it is possible to attach a flash bar to the camera body. However, it must be mentioned that attachment to a tripod and a self-timer function are not included.

Film material for the Kodak Pleaser

Appropriate film material is required to operate the instant camera. It should be noted that production of the original footage has now ceased and no alternatives are available. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to use the camera today.

Possible alternatives

For those interested who still want to experience the charm of an instant camera, there are various alternative options. The well-known alternatives include the Polaroid OneStep Autofocus* and the Polaroid 636 Closeup*, which are equipped with similar functions and use the same film format.

There are also other alternatives to the Polaroid models. The Instax Mini 9* and the Instax Mini 40* should be considered. The required instant film for these cameras is still available and can easily be purchased online.
