The Kitamura Original “New Retro” is a disposable camera distributed by the Japanese company Camera no Kitamura. As a disposable camera, it is intended for single use. After taking all the pictures, the entire camera is submitted for development and is not returned to the user.
Unlike other 35mm cameras, the lens on this model cannot be changed. The focus is fixed. For sharp images, you should keep a distance of at least one meter from the subject.
There is no light meter or exposure settings. You just have to press the shutter button and you’re done.
The built-in flash provides sufficient light. This should also be used indoors, as it can otherwise lead to underexposed images (dark photos).
A battery for the flash is built-in.
Instructions for Use
The camera is easy to use and requires no prior knowledge. Since there is no light metering, the use of the flash is crucial for good results in poor lighting conditions. To conserve the built-in battery for the flash, it should be switched off when not in use.
Film Selection and Development
Unlike reusable cameras, the film cannot be changed in this model. The camera comes with a pre-installed ISO 400 color film for 27 shots. The development of color films is done using the standardized C-41 process, which is offered by most photo labs.
