The Instax 210 Hello Kitty is an edition, as the name suggests, for fans of the Japanese cat. The camera is white and is decorated, among other things, with a small illustration of the Sanrio character. The model was introduced in 2011. In terms of functionality, it is similar to the normal Instax 210.
With its dimensions of 178.5 x 117.5 x 94.5mm, which are mainly due to the large film format, the Instax 210 is definitely not a small compact camera. Despite its robust plastic construction, it weighs over 600 grams without accessories. The simple design is in black, with the controls and the display showing the number of shots remaining on the left side.
In terms of functionality, it is very similar to the Instax 100 or Instax 200. The camera does most of the work independently.
It is equipped with a fixed focal length, i.e. without zoom. Focusing is done using buttons on the side in two steps from 0.90 m to infinity. With the included close-up lens you can get up to 45 centimeters from the subject.
The camera’s exposure meter automatically selects the appropriate exposure, but can be adjusted using the light/dark slider. A built-in flash fires depending on the lighting conditions, but can also be activated manually, for example in backlighting.
Taking photos with the Instax 210 is extremely easy: search for the subject, focus if necessary, aim through the viewfinder, shoot, and the image pops out of the top of the camera. The instant image develops within a few minutes. Shaking does not speed up the process and can even have negative effects.
The 210 is loaded with the still in production Instax Wide Film, which reliably delivers sharp color images. However, the Instax Wide Film* is the only option, other films are not compatible. A film cassette contains 10 images and costs around 10 euros, i.e. 1 euro per image. An instant photo measures 108 mm (width) by 86 mm (height).
Unlike Polaroid cameras, where the battery is included in the film pack, the camera is powered by four AA batteries (1.5V) (eBay / Amazon*). One charge is enough for around 100 images. There is no tripod connection. In addition to the camera, the scope of delivery includes a carrying strap and a close-up lens.
