For decades, Agfa was one of the largest manufacturers of films in Europe. Films such as the Agfa APX were produced in Leverkusen.
On May 20, 2005, AgfaPhoto GmbH filed for insolvency proceedings.
In the meantime, there is not much left of Agfa. Film production of the old Agfa films has been discontinued.
Meanwhile, re-labeled films from other manufacturers are sold under the name AgfaPhoto.
In Belgium, however, Agfa-Gevaert still produces films, for example for aerial photography, and Rollei assembles them into the right formats for photographers.
Besides films, developers and other chemical products and even cameras were produced.
