The Rollei RPX 100 is a panchromatic black and white film. It is a traditional film for black and white photography with a sensitivity of ISO 100.

The 100 promises a wide exposure latitude, fine grain and good sharpness. With it, you get a classic black-and-white look.

The RPX can be developed in most commercially available developers without any problems. But it can also be developed in the Rollei RPX-D developer, which was specially developed for RPX films.

This film is distributed by Maco, a company from Hamburg, and was announced as the successor to the popular APX films. There is RPX 100 for medium format and 35mm cameras. There is no sheet film.

It is manufactured by Ilford/Harman. However, unlike the RPX 100, the Kentmere 100 is not available as medium format film.

The 35mm film is cast on a 0.120 mm triacetate base and the medium format film on a 0.102 mm triacetate base. Sensitized is the panchromatic B&W film from 380 to 660 nm at 2,850K.

In late 2013, with the introduction of the Rollei RPX 25, the packaging of the RPX 100 was changed. Instead of the double plastic boxes, it comes individually in cardboard boxes.

Development of the film

Black and white film must be processed in a true black and white developer. This process is offered by some photo labs, but you have full control over the end result if you develop the film yourself.

The photo chemistry and accessories for development can be conveniently ordered online. Besides the advantage of full control over the process, developing is also cheaper in the long run than shipping to a photo lab.
