The Kodak VISION3 200T is a color negative film. However, this is not a film for analog photography, but material for the production of moving images, i.e. series and especially motion pictures.

The VISION3 200T is a film for color film for shooting under artificial light. Unlike digital photography, when using analog film material, you cannot simply change the white balance. For this reason, there are special films for daylight and tungsten light.

This Kodak is designed for shooting with a light temperature of 3200 Kelvin. When shooting under this light temperature, it delivers true color images. If you expose it under daylight, the images show a shift to blue tones.

If you still want to use it in daylight, you can attach an appropriate filter in front of the camera lens. However, this has the consequence that the sensitivity decreases and this has to be compensated.

In tungsten light (3200K), the sensitivity is specified as 200. If you use it in daylight with a filter it is a value of 125.

Development

As with the normal photographic films, the Kodak film must also be developed to get the images. In this case, it enters a standardized development process called ECN-2.

The ECN-2 development process is specifically for color negative film used in movie production. However, it is very similar to the C-41 process for photography. One difference is that a coating (remjet) is removed during development.

Formats

The Kodak VISION3 200T is offered by Kodak for film production only. That means, on the one hand, you have to buy appropriate quantities and on the other hand, only formats for film camera (for movie production) are offered.

The VISION3 200T is available as Super 8 film. It is also available by the meter in various lengths. Thus, it is available for 65 mm, 16 mm and 35 mm formats. The product codes are 5213 (35 mm and 65 mm) and 7213 (16 mm).

Use for photography

When 35 mm film is loaded into 35 mm cartridges, it can also be used in regular still cameras. Therefore, some brands offer the Kodak material specifically for photographers.

Here, however, the aforementioned remjet coating must be taken into account. Some suppliers remove this so that the film can be developed without problems in the C-41 process. If the coating is still present, you have to remove it yourself or the photo lab.

Storage

To ensure that the quality of the film material is not affected, it is advisable to store it under optimal conditions. For optimal long-term storage, a cool and dry place is recommended. Prompt development is recommended, as prolonged storage of exposed film stock is not ideal.
