The efke 25 is a black and white film. It is based on an old film from Adox from the 1950s. It was manufactured by Fotokemika in Croatia.

After this manufacturer ended its service, the efke 25 was also discontinued. It was available as 35mm film (efke KB 25), also by the meter, medium format film (efke R 25) and as sheet film (efke PL 25 M).

The efke 25 is a classic black and white film and therefore not really comparable to modern black and white films, like the T-Max films. The sensitivity is specified as ISO 25. Overexposure is not tolerated well by the efke 25.

The efke 25 is developed in a black and white developer, such as Rodinal. It is best not to develop it in a large lab, as it is quite sensitive to external influences. It is advisable to develop it yourself, in which case you have full control and can handle it carefully.

Besides the ISO 25 film, there was also a version with ISO 50 and ISO 100.

As an alternative with a low sensitivity, you could consider the Rollei RPX 25.

Sample photos

The sample images were taken with the Olympus XA. The black and white film was then developed in R09 One Shot. The developer, which is equivalent to Rodinal, was diluted 1+50. At 20 degrees, the film was left in the developer for 8 minutes.
