Revueflex E

The Revueflex E is a SLR camera. It was produced by Zenit and presented in the 1960s. It was sold under the private label of Foto Quelle in the West. The 35mm camera was also sold on the market under the name "Zenit-E".

The lenses of the Revueflex E can be changed. Lenses with a M42 lens mount can be used. The M42 thread is standardized and manufacturer-independent, so there is a large range of lenses. The lens mount was originally invented by Carl Zeiss in Jena, East Germany. Major manufacturers of M42 interchangeable lenses included Pentax, Pentacon, Zenit/KMZ and Zeiss. The lens is focused by hand. The Revueflex E does not have an autofocus function.

The Revueflex E features a built-in light meter. The exposure meter is designed to measure exposure through the lens of the camera. The shutter speed and aperture can be selected by the photographer.

The Bulb mode can be used for long exposures. The shutter stays open as long as desired. An external flash unit can be connected to the PC flash socket.

Films for the Revueflex E

The Revueflex E uses 35mm film. The 35mm format is the most common film format. Therefore, some manufacturers still produce for this format. One option for b/w images is the Ilford Delta 400*. A possible film for color pictures is the Kodak Portra 400*.

The color film is processed in the C-41 process. C-41 films can be developed by most photo laboratories. The film must be winded manually by the photographer.

The 35 mm camera has a built-in self-timer. In addition, there is a connector for a cable release and a thread for a tripod. You don't need batteries to take pictures, the camera works completely manually.

Nowadays you can buy the Revueflex E only in used condition. The prices for a used copy vary depending on the condition.
