The Nikon AF240SV is a camera from Nikon. It is a compact camera from the late 90s. The SV in the name stands for Super Viewfinder. The viewfinder should be especially bright and large. The AF240SV is the predecessor of the Nikon AF250SV. The model was also sold as Nikon Fun Touch 6.

The 35mm camera comes with a fixed lens with a fixed focal length. 28 mm is the focal length of the lens. The maximum aperture of the camera is f/5.6. The closest focusing distance for this lens is 100 cm. The camera has an autofocus. This feature is different from the quite similar Nikon EF400SV.

The Nikon AF240SV has a built-in light meter. The light meter is built for films with a sensitivity of ISO 100 or ISO 400. The film speed is read from the camera by the DX code on the film cartridge. The aperture and exposure time are set automatically by the 35mm camera.

The built-in flash provides enough light. At ISO 100 the range is 2.7 meters. There is a mode for the reduction of red eyes in the photos. The flash can also be switched off completely for taking pictures.

The camera weighs 155 grams and measures 11 x 6.7 x 3.7 cm. The power source of the camera are two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). One charge of batteries should be enough for about 20 rolls of film. A thread for a tripod is provided on the bottom of the camera.

Films for the Nikon AF240SV

The Nikon AF240SV exposes photographic film, or more precisely 35mm film. 35mm films are still being produced and are developed without problems in most photo labs. For black-and-white shots in 35mm format, the Ilford XP2 Super* is a good choice. For color images you can use the Fujifilm Superia 400*.

The colour film is processed in the C-41 process. The C-41 process is offered by almost every photo lab. The black and white film for monochrome images can be developed in the same process.

Nikon AF240SV QD

Nikon sells a variation of the camera with the AF240SV QD. This quartz date model offers the possibility to expose the time of capture into the image.
