The Lomo'Instant Wide is an instant camera from Lomography. It was introduced in October 2015 and is the second own instant camera from Lomography. At launch, it could only be pre-ordered, but it came with a Lomography Light Painter, a Lomo'Instant Wide strap and 4 extra color filters as extras.

Unlike the Lomo'Instant, it doesn't use the Instax Mini film format, but exposes Fujifilm's Instax Wide instant films, which are about twice as big. This also makes the camera correspondingly larger and heavier than the regular Lomo'Instant.

As you know from most instant cameras, the Lomo'Instant Wide also has an automatic mode, where you only have to press the shutter button, the camera then selects the right exposure and ejects the finished picture. However, there is also the option, which is missing on most Polaroid cameras, to operate the camera manually.

The automatic exposure setting can be influenced with a switch for exposure compensation (+- 1 f-stop). Here you can set the camera to a fixed exposure time of 130 s or the Bulb mode, where the shutter is open as long as the shutter button is held down, for long exposures. Even more creative freedom is offered by the multiple exposure button on the Lomo'Instant Wide.

Like virtually every instant camera, the Lomo'Instant Wide comes with a built-in flash. The flash can be colored with the included color filters if desired, or turned off completely if needed. Furthermore, the camera offers the possibility to connect an external flash or radio trigger, for example for use in the studio.

The lens of the Lomo'Instant Wide is focused manually in three stages. The closest focusing distance (shortest distance to the subject) is 0.6 meters.

Little things like a mirror on the front for selfies, eyelets for a camera strap and a tripod thread are also present on the instant camera. For group shots and self-portraits, the camera also comes with a wireless shutter release, which is conveniently located in the lens cap.

Included with the camera are the Lomo'Instant Wide, colorful color filters, the lens cap with remote shutter release, cards with tips for taking pictures with the instant camera, and a manual. In addition to that, you need four AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) to operate the camera and of course the appropriate films. For color pictures, there is the Instax Wide Film* to buy.
