The Lomography Simple Use Half Frame LomoChrome Classicolor Edition is a reusable half-frame camera from the brand Lomography. It was designed as part of the Simple Use Half Frame model series to offer a reusable alternative to classic disposable cameras.
The defining feature of this edition is the factory-loaded color negative film LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200, introduced in 2025, as well as the inclusion of swivel flash filters. It was presented in July 2026.
How It Works
The camera features a compact plastic body and operates in half-frame format (17 mm × 24 mm). This allows it to expose twice the number of portrait-format images on a conventional 35 mm film. A total of 40 photos can be taken on the factory-loaded film.
The camera is equipped with a fixed focal length of 21 millimeters, a fixed shutter speed of 1/120 second, and a constant aperture of f/9. The built-in fixed-focus lens offers a focus range from 0.6 meters to infinity.
An integrated, manually rechargeable flash with a charging time of about 15 seconds is powered by a replaceable AAA battery (eBay / Amazon*). The special feature of this edition lies in three swivel color gel filters that can be folded in front of the flash window to add color accents to flash photography.
Features of the LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200 Film
The preinstalled LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200 is a color negative film with medium sensitivity. Its emulsion is designed for realistic reproduction with a slight emphasis on warm skin tones, clear blue and green tones, and strong red tones.
In bright daylight, the film delivers well-saturated colors, while under overcast skies it shows softer and more subtle nuances. It has a fine to medium grain and moderate contrast, giving images a classic analog appearance. The film is also characterized by an adaptable exposure latitude.
Reusability and Development
Although the camera is mechanically based on the concept of a disposable camera, a locking mechanism allows it to be opened without damage and reloaded with a new 35 mm film.
After exposing the 40 shots, the LomoChrome Classicolor film can be removed and processed using the standardized C-41 development process. This allows the film to be developed in almost all common photo labs.
The camera itself can then be reloaded with any standard 35 mm film. A good color film for 35 mm format is, for example, the Kodak Ultramax 400*.
