The Konica C35 AF is a 35mm camera from the 70s. It was nicknamed "Jasupin" and was a milestone in camera development.

The Konica C35 AF was the first commercially available camera with built-in autofocus. The Japanese company relied on the Visitronic autofocus system developed by Honeywell. In 1980, it was replaced by the Konica C35 AF2, which differed slightly in appearance from its predecessor.

The Konica C35 AF comes with a fixed lens (Konica Hexanon 38mm F2.8 Japan). This has a maximum aperture of f/2.8, a fixed focal length of 38 mm and consists of four elements in three groups. The diameter for a filter is 46 mm.

Not only can the 35mm camera adjust the focus, but the camera itself also adjusts the exposure. Films with a sensitivity of ISO 25 to ISO 400 (eBay / Amazon*) are supported. A good color film for shooting with the camera is the Kodak Ektar 100*. It is produced by a reputable manufacturer and gives solid results. Development of the film is available at most professional photo labs. The price for pure development is usually in the range of two and five euros.

When choosing the exposure time, one has a choice between 1/60 s, 1/125 s and 1/250 s and for the aperture between f/2.8 to f/22. However, the exposure cannot be set manually.

If a bit more light is needed, the built-in flash can be switched on. The required power comes from two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). The film is rewound manually.

The Konica C35 AF has a self-timer, viewfinder and a thread for a tripod. An external flash cannot be connected. The dimensions are given as 132 x 76 x 54 mm. The manufacturer names the weight of the compact camera at 375 grams.
