Kodak Star 575

  • Manufacturer Kodak
  • Type Snapshot camera
  • Type of Film 35mm
  • Max Aperture -
  • Focus Fixed focus

The Kodak Star 575 is a compact camera for snapshots. It was introduced by Kodak in the 90s. The model was produced in a factory in Mexico. The target group was beginners and occasional users. For this reason, the range of settings is very reduced, actually non-existent. Professional photographers may find this disturbing, but the advantage is that no manual is needed to use it.

The photo camera comes with a fixed lens. The focus of the lens cannot be changed. The focal length is not specified, but for these models it is usually in the range of 30 and 35 mm. The model does not have a zoom function.

The 35mm camera has a built-in light meter. The aperture and shutter speed are automatically controlled by the camera's electronics.

A flash is built in for pictures in low light. Two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) are responsible for the power supply. There is no thread for a tripod. There is also no self-timer.

Films for the Kodak Star 575

Without photo films, nothing works with the Kodak Star 575. More precisely, the camera needs 35mm films. These are still easy to get today and are still developed. Possible films for the point-and-shoot camera are the Kodak Gold 200* for color images and the Kodak T-Max 400* for black-and-white images. Films from other manufacturers can of course be used with the camera.

The development of the color film is done in the C-41 process. This is offered by almost every photo lab. The film for monochrome photos has to go into a developer like Rodinal, D-76 or ID11.

The exposure area of the Kodak Star 575 is 24 mm x 36 mm. At this size, 36 images fit on a normal roll of 35mm film. The film is transported automatically. It is also wound back into the cartridge at the end by a motor.
