The Fujifilm Instax 100 is an instant camera and was introduced in 1999. Later it was replaced by the Instax 200. Which is almost identical to it, but has a slightly different design. For example, the flash is not in the middle, but on the side, just like the buttons.

Due to the rather large film format, the Instax 100 is not exactly a compact camera either. A handle on the side makes it a bit more handy to handle. For the most part, the instant camera is made of plastic. Without strap, batteries and film, it weighs 650 grams. The design of the camera is gray and blue. A strap can also be attached to the camera.

It is powered by four AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). When turned on, the lens extends, the lens cover opens, and the camera is ready to use. The Instax 100 has a fixed focal length built in, it does not have a zoom.

The camera selects the exposure time and aperture (fixed aperture of f/14) on its own. If it is too dark, the flash is automatically switched on. Focusing is done with buttons on the back of the camera. There are two settings there, one for close-ups (0.9 to 3 m) and one for more distant subjects (3 m to infinity).

On the back is a small screen that displays the remaining number of frames. Somewhat unusual is the position of the viewfinder. It is located on the far left side.

No Polaroid film is loaded into the instant camera, but Fujifilm's Instax Wide. This is still produced by Fuji and is quite easy to get.

One cassette contains 10 color pictures. The format of the film is somewhat reminiscent of Polaroid's Spectra format. The picture has a size of 6,2 x 9,9 cm, the whole instant picture is 8,6 x 10,8 cm, big. The color film is the Instax Wide Film*.

After taking the picture, you don't have to do anything but wait until the picture is developed, so no shaking or protecting from light.

It is no longer manufactured, but you can reach for the Fuji Instax 210 or see if you can get it used somewhere.
