Exakta AF-100

  • Manufacturer Exakta
  • Type Snapshot camera
  • Type of Film 35mm
  • Focal Length 35 mm
  • Max Aperture -
  • Focus Automatic

The Exakta AF-100 is a compact camera for snapshots. It was probably made by the Haking company. An identical model is the Halina Vision XAF.

The lens of this 35mm photo camera is permanently integrated. The focal length of the lens is specified by the manufacturer as 35 mm. An autofocus system sets the distance automatically on this model. A sliding door protects the lens from external damage.

The 35 mm camera has an integrated exposure meter. The camera technology regulates the aperture and exposure time fully automatically, so that no manual intervention is necessary.

Of course, the camera has an integrated flash. This can be activated using a slider.

The camera is powered by two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). The user is free to use rechargeable batteries.

Films for the Exakta AF-100

According to the operating instructions, the Exakta AF-100 uses 35mm film. Such films are still available from various suppliers and can be developed.

Matching films for the Exakta AF-100 that are currently available include the Kodak Portra 400* for color photography and the Kodak T-Max 400 for black and white images. There are of course other providers such as Lomography, Fujifilm, Rollei, Ilford or Foma.

The color film is developed according to the C-41 standard. Many photo labs offer the C-41 process, as do many drug stores.

The negatives of the Exakta AF-100 measure 24mm x 36mm. The camera has a motorized film transport that advances the film after each frame. A counter on the case shows the number of shots taken.

As soon as the film has reached the end, it is automatically rewound. Then it can be brought to development. It is important not to open the camera back before the film is rewound. Otherwise exposure to light may damage the film and images may be lost.

The Exakta AF-100 model is no longer in production. The value of this camera today depends on its condition and functionality. It doesn't have a particularly high collector's value. A used copy currently costs about 36,33 €.
