The Braun Candy M Motor or Candy Motor M is a 35mm camera for snapshots. It was sold under the Braun brand to Carl Braun Camera-Werk from Nuremberg. It was probably made in Asia. An obvious manufacturer could be Haking from Hong Kong.

The plastic body model has a fixed 33mm lens. The focus can neither be adjusted nor does it have an autofocus. Don't expect high-quality shots from the lens. A sliding flap protects the lens.

The camera does not have built-in exposure metering. But a dial on the front lets you choose the film speed: ISO 100/200, 400 and 1000. Depending on the ISO, the aperture will vary, with the shutter speed likely staying around 1/125 second.

An integrated flash enables clear shots in low light and can be switched on via a switch underneath.

Two AAA batteries are required to operate the Braun Candy M motor. These are mainly used for the flash and also feed the film transport motor.

The manual states that it has neither a tripod thread nor a self-timer. A multiple exposure function is also missing.

Film suggestions for the Braun Candy M Motor

The Braun Candy M Motor uses 35mm film. Such films are still popular, and their development is possible in many photo laboratories.

The Kodak Ultramax 400* is ideal for color images, while the Ilford Delta 400* is predestined for monochrome images. Other film manufacturers include Fujifilm, Foma, Lomography, Adox and Rollei.

The C-41 process is mostly used for the development of color films. Black and white films can be developed both in laboratories and at home with suitable equipment. Information on this is available on the Internet.

Ordinary film allows about 36 exposures. After each shot, a motor automatically advances the film. At the end, the film is also automatically rewound.

A counter on top of the camera gives information about the number of pictures taken. A window at the back provides information about the inserted film.
