The Yashica T-Zoom is a 35mm camera with zoom function. It was manufactured by Kyocera for Yashica, and also marketed as the Yashica T4 Zoom and Kyocera T-Zoom.
The Yashica T-Zoom comes with a fixed Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar T* 28 mm – 70 mm. Depending on the zoom level, the maximum aperture is between f/4.5 and f/8. Focusing is automatic and the minimum distance to the subject is 50 cm.
The Yashica T-Zoom sets the exposure settings itself. All 35mm films (eBay / Amazon*) with a sensitivity between ISO 50 and ISO 3200 are accepted by the exposure meter. If the DX code of the cartridge is not recognized or this is not available, the sensitivity is set to ISO 100. Once the image is in the box, the film is automatically advanced.
Other functions include the self-timer, built-in flash and a mode for long exposures. In addition, the current date can be imprinted on the image if desired.
The compact camera is powered by a CR123A or DL123A battery (eBay / Amazon*). The dimensions of the camera body are 113 x 62.5 x 39.5 mm. The weight is 195 grams without the battery.
Films for the Yashica T-Zoom
The Yashica T-Zoom is designed to expose 35mm format films. Even today, there is a production of 35mm films that can be easily developed at most external photo labs. Available photographic films for the Japanese compact camera that can be easily obtained are the Kodak Gold 200* for color exposures and the Ilford Delta 100* for B&W exposures.
To develop the color film, it is processed in the C-41 process. The C-41 films are offered by most photo labs. To develop color film, you can also use various large drugstore chains in Germany. Black and white film must be processed in a developer such as Rodinal or XTOL.
