The Polaroid 600 Land Camera Model 640 is an instant camera for Polaroid 600 film. It was built in the 1980s.

As you know it from instant cameras, the focus is on easy operation. The focus can be changed from not. It is a simple plastic lens with a fixed focus setting (1.2 m to infinity).

The exposure is handled by the camera itself, the photographer can only influence it with the light/dark control. A flash must not be missing either. Who wants to take pictures without flash, according to the instructions, only the rear part of the shutter button must be pressed when shooting.

Films

The Polaroid 640 is designed for the 600 format. Production of these films ended with the demise of the instant pioneer. Meanwhile, there are again fresh instant films for the camera under the brand “Polaroid Originals”. Suitable for the 640 are, among others, the Polaroid Color Film for 600* and the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*.

In one package there are eight shots. Therefore, even with the “2” in the frame counter on the back of the camera, a film change is necessary.

Batteries

The Polaroid 640 does not require additional batteries, as the power source is found in the film cassette. The inserted film provides sufficient power to the camera technology and flash. However, if the camera has been stored for a long time, for example in the basement, the battery in the film cassette may discharge. In this case, the camera will no longer function and the film will need to be replaced with new stock with a fresh battery. It is therefore important to make sure that the camera is used regularly or that the film is replaced in good time to ensure optimal functioning.
