The Halina Vision XMS presents itself as a compact and inexpensive snapshot camera, ideal for spontaneous analogue photos. It is a product of the Hong Kong company Haking.
Functions
This device features a fixed 35mm lens, the exact focal length of which is not explicitly stated but is expected to be in the range of 28mm to 35mm. The camera does not have an autofocus. The focus is fixed (Focus Free).
Inside the Halina Vision XMS there is an integrated exposure meter. The camera technology automatically recognizes the sensitivity of the film (DX) inserted, which means that the aperture and exposure time are adjusted autonomously - manual adjustment is therefore not necessary.
Although the device does not offer a special "red-eye" reduction mode and lacks both a tripod socket and a self-timer, there is the option of attaching a hand strap for better handling. There is also an integrated flash. Two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) are used as the power supply, whereby the use of rechargeable batteries is recommended.
Film selection for the Halina Vision XMS
According to the user manual, the Halina Vision XMS is designed for 35mm film. A selection of such films can still be purchased and developed from various providers today.
Suitable film types for this handy camera are, for example, the Kodak Ultramax 400* for color photographs and the Ilford Delta 100* for monochrome photographs. Alternatives from brands like Lomography, Fujifilm, Rollei, Adox and Foma are also available.
The Halina Vision XMS produces negatives in the format 24 mm x 36 mm. A motorized system advances the film after each exposure, while a counter on the top shows the exposures already taken.
When the end of the film is reached, it is automatically wound back into the cartridge. It is strongly recommended not to open the camera until the film is fully rewound to avoid damage from exposure to light.
Despite the cessation of production, the Halina Vision XMS retains its practical value, which primarily depends on its condition and functionality, even if it does not have a high collector's value. The current market value amounts to 17,26 €.
