Wotancraft Portable Camera Pouch

If you own a compact camera, you might not want to carry it around in a dedicated camera bag every day. This is exactly where the Wotancraft Portable Camera Pouches come in. They turn ordinary everyday backpacks or casual bags into a protected storage place for your camera.

We took a closer look at the Wotancraft Portable Camera Pouch in size ML.

The Wotancraft Pouch at a Glance

Over the years, Wotancraft has built a reputation for robust and meticulously crafted bags. The Portable Camera Pouch uses the well-known 500D Cordura nylon. This material is characterized by high abrasion resistance and comes with a water-repellent coating. It feels firm without being stiff, and unlike some neoprene cases, it hardly picks up lint from the inside of your backpack.

The size ML measures just under 14 centimeters in outer width, 9.5 centimeters in depth, and 12 centimeters in height. With a weight of just over 90 grams, the pouch hardly adds any weight to your luggage. The zipper is a YKK model. The zipper pulls are relatively large for the size of the bag, which makes them easy to grip, even when wearing gloves.

On the inside, the manufacturer uses a soft microfiber lining. This material prevents scratches on sensitive camera displays or lens barrels. The foam padding between the outer and inner fabric has a medium density.

Wotancraft recommends this size for the Fujifilm X-M5 and Sony RX1R III. The Fujifilm X-E5 also fits in the pouch. The camera body is slim, which harmonizes well with the pouch's design. Of course, it depends on the lens.

The SG-Image 25mm fits without any problems. With the Fujifilm 35mm f/2, it becomes a bit tight. However, the Fujifilm XF 23mm f2.8 R WR or the 28mm f/2.8 from TTArtisan and Fujifilm should be no problem.

On the outside, there is a flat slip pocket. It is suitable for flat items like an extra memory card or a lens cap. You could also store an AirTag or business cards here.

In Practice

The real benefit of such a protective case becomes apparent especially when you don't want to take a dedicated camera bag. If you like to stroll through the city inconspicuously, you often grab a simple tote bag, a larger shoulder bag, or a simple daypack. In such bags, an unprotected camera lies among keys, charging cables, notebooks, or a water bottle. This is exactly where the Wotancraft pouch takes over its task.

The padding reliably protects against the small carelessness of everyday life. A slight bump against a table edge or setting the backpack down on a hard platform is easily absorbed by the material.

On the outside, there are also two eyelets. A strap can be attached here. This way, you can also use the Wotancraft pouch as a small camera bag.

Conclusion

The Wotancraft Portable Camera Pouch in size ML is a good solution for anyone who wants to transport their gear inconspicuously in regular bags. Key strengths include the solid material selection with Cordura fabric, the clean workmanship, and the soft interior that reliably protects a Fujifilm X-E5 from scratches.

The biggest disadvantage is, of course, that you can only use a certain size of cameras or camera-lens combos. So you need to think beforehand about which setup you want to use with the Wotancraft pouch.

If you want to carry a compact rangefinder or mirrorless system camera safely in everyday life without much fuss, you'll find a reliable companion here.
