The first LomoKino Special Edition in collaboration with MUBI.
Lomography today introduced the first Special Edition of the LomoKino. This variant of the movie camera for 35mm film is the result of a collaboration between Lomography, MUBI and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, a Thai director.
The camera is covered in white, while the standard version is available in black. This can be seen on the edges of the camera. On the back and on parts of the front there are colorful dots. The front of the camera is also adorned with the director's signature and the MUBI logo.
The MUBI Edition comes with a LomoKinoScope for viewing the finished films in a matching design. However, only properly developed (E6) 35mm slide films can be viewed.
The package includes a one-month free subscription to MUBI, a streaming service for films, and a piece of Weerasethakul's LomoKino film. It can be purchased from Lomography's online shop, with limited stock, for 109 euros.
Apichatpong Weerasethakul has shot a film with the 35mm movie camera. The Thai director won the Palme d'Or in 2010 with his film 'Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives'. This year, the film 'Ashes', shot with the LomoKino, will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. On May 24, however, a screening of the film will take place at Lomography's Gallery Stores.
