The Belair is a medium format camera with bellows. It can expose three different formats: 6x12 panoramas and square 6x6 and 6x9 photos. On a normal roll of 120 film, you can take 12 (6x6), 8 (6x9), or 6 (6x12) photos. The camera exposes 104 x 52mm (6x12), 78 x 52mm (6x9), and 52mm x 52mm (6x6) on the film.

According to Lomography, the image quality of the interchangeable lenses is excellent. Currently, two lenses are available: a 90mm and a 58mm, with more to follow. The largest aperture of the two lenses is f/8, the smallest f/16. Like the LC-Wide and LC-A, the Belair X 6-12 is a zone focus camera. There are four focus zones: 1m, 1.5m, 3m, and infinity.
