Kodak licensee Reto Project expands its range of analog cameras with a new model. With the Kodak EC35, the company presents a compact 35mm film camera aimed at beginners as well as experienced enthusiasts of uncomplicated photography.
In times when used point-and-shoot cameras often fetch high prices, this new release offers an affordable entry into the world of analog film. The model's operation recalls classic disposable cameras, but it is fully reusable, thus providing a more sustainable alternative for everyday use.
A feature of the Kodak EC35 is its mechanical sliding shutter on the front. This design element protects the built-in wide-angle lens from dust and scratches when carried in a backpack or pocket. At the same time, the sliding cover blocks the shutter release when closed, reliably preventing accidental exposures.
The camera body is made of robust ABS plastic. Weighing only 102 grams without battery and film, the device is a faithful companion on the go. Its dimensions are a compact 119 mm in width, 65 mm in height, and 41.5 mm in depth.
The technical specifications of the camera are kept simple to focus on image composition. The Kodak EC35 is equipped with an optical lens with a focal length of 25 mm and a fixed aperture of f/10. This is a two-element acrylic lens of optical quality. The shutter speed is fixed at 1/100 second.
For situations with low ambient light or indoor shots, an integrated electronic flash is available. It is powered by a single AA alkaline battery. Both film advance and subsequent rewinding of the 35mm film are done manually via classic mechanical controls.
The camera is available in seven different color variants to suit various personal preferences. The color palette includes Midnight Black, Vanilla White, Butter Yellow, Lavender, Powder Blue, Blush Pink, and Avocado Green.
The manufacturer offers two different package options. The single package, which includes the camera and a matching wrist strap, has a suggested retail price of $34.99. With this option, film and battery must be purchased separately. Alternatively, there is the film bundle for $44.99, which includes the camera and wrist strap as well as a Kodak Ultramax 400 color negative film with 24 exposures.
