The Minolta X-7 is a camera from Minolta. It is an SLR camera from the 1980s. It was produced in Japan.
As with most SLR cameras, the lenses can be interchanged. Lenses with Minolta SR bayonet can be used for this purpose. There is a wide variety of options here. There is no autofocus system on this model yet. The focus has to be set manually.
For this, there is an automatic exposure. The built-in exposure meter can be used with films from ISO 25 to ISO 1600. The aperture has to be set on the lens. The shutter speed is automatically selected by the camera. This model does not have a completely manual mode. For the shutter speed, you only have the choice between Auto, Bulb, the shutter speed for the flash and an exposure compensation of +- 2 stops.
A flash can be connected via cable or via the hot shoe. You can also connect a cable release. There is also a self-timer and a thread on the bottom for a tripod.
The 35mm photo camera measures 13.8 x 8.8 x 5.2 cm. The camera requires two S76 batteries (eBay / Amazon*). You can still get these batteries easily today.
Films for the Minolta X-7
You can also still buy the films for the photo camera. The Minolta X-7 needs 35mm films. Fortunately, there are still a variety of options here. For color images, for example, there is the Kodak Ultramax 400*. One option for black and white images is the Ilford Delta 400*. According to various reviews, they are good for everyday shooting and produce solid results.
There is a counter on the top of the camera for the number of photos taken. It jumps by one digit when the film is moved on. About 36 pictures fit on a normal roll of film.
