Halina Vision XAS

The Halina Vision XAS is a handy camera, perfect for spontaneous photos. It was manufactured by the Hong Kong company Haking. A matching bag was included with the camera.

The 35mm camera lens is non-detachable. Although the exact focal length is not specified, it is believed to be between 28mm and 35mm. Thanks to the autofocus system, the sharpness of the image is automatically adjusted. A sliding flap protects the lens from damage and dirt.

The Halina Vision XAS has an integrated exposure meter. The film sensitivity is automatically recognized by the film cartridge. Aperture and exposure time are controlled automatically by the camera, so manual adjustment is not necessary.

Of course, the device also has a built-in flash. A special mode for reducing “red eyes” is not available on this model. A tripod thread and a self-timer are also missing. A hand strap can be attached to the camera for this purpose.

The camera uses two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) to power the camera, with rechargeable batteries being a recommended option.

Films for the Halina Vision XAS

According to the user manual, the Halina Vision XAS uses 35mm film. Such films are still available from various suppliers and can be processed.

Recommended films for this compact camera are e.g. the Kodak Ultramax 400* for color photography and the Ilford Delta 100* for black and white shots. But other brands such as Lomography, Fujifilm, Rollei, Adox and Foma also offer suitable films.

The color film is developed according to the C-41 standard. This procedure is common in most photo labs, and many drugstores also offer this service.

The negatives of the Halina Vision XAS measure 24 mm x 36 mm. A motorized system ensures that the film is advanced after each shot. A counter on the top shows the number of photos taken.

When the film runs out, it is automatically rewound into its cartridge. Only then should you open the camera to take out the film and have it developed. If the film has not yet been rewound, the camera should not be opened under any circumstances, otherwise light could enter and damage the film.

Production of this camera has already been discontinued. Today, their value depends primarily on their condition and functionality. It doesn’t have a particularly high collector’s value. The used price is currently 14,38 Euro.
