Halina Vision Smart S

The Halina Vision Smart S is a compact camera, ideal for snapshots. It was produced by Haking in Hong Kong.

Camera properties

The 35mm lens is permanently installed. Although the exact focal length is not given, it is estimated to be between 28mm and 35mm. An autofocus system ensures automatic image sharpness correction. A protective flap protects the lens from external influences.

The Halina Vision Smart S has an integrated exposure sensor. The sensitivity of the loaded film is automatically detected. Both aperture and exposure time are adjusted independently, making manual changes unnecessary.

Of course, this camera also has a built-in flash. A special mode against “red eyes” is available on this model. The Halina Vision Smart, without the suffix “S”, lacks this mode.

A tripod connection and a self-timer are available. A plus is the ability to attach a wrist strap.

Two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) power the camera, although rechargeable batteries are a good alternative.

Film material for the Halina Vision Smart S

According to the user manual, the Halina Vision Smart S uses 35mm film. These films are still available from many manufacturers and can be processed.

Recommended films for this camera include Kodak Ultramax 400* for color images and Ilford Delta 100* for black and white images. Other manufacturers such as Lomography, Fujifilm, Rollei, Adox and Foma also have suitable films on offer.

Most labs offer to develop these films. Most prints can be made from the negatives. You can also digitize the negatives and use them as digital files.

The negatives of the Halina Vision Smart S have the dimensions 24 mm x 36 mm. A motorized system advances the film after each exposure. A counter on the top provides information about the number of shots.

When the film is fully exposed, it automatically rewinds. After that, the camera should be opened to allow the film to be developed. Removing film from the camera that has not been fully rewound allows light to enter and damage the film.
