The Washi F is a black and white film. The film is offered by the French supplier Washi. The basis for the film is an X-ray film for the diagnosis of lung diseases.

The special feature of this film is the missing halo protection. This results in images with an overradiation of the lights. According to the manufacturer, the film is sensitive to ISO 100 and the spectral sensitivity ranges up to a maximum of 575 nm.

Development of the film

Unlike color negative films, there is no standardised development process for the F. It must be developed in a black-and-white developer. With the right chemistry and some accessories you can do the development yourself. It can be processed under red light in the darkroom.

Formats

The Washi F footage was available for 35mm and medium format cameras. The 35mm cartridges have no DX coding. One roll of film is sufficient for 24 frames.

It is important to place the 35mm film in the camera in the shade and take six empty pictures before the first shot is taken. With medium format film this procedure is not necessary.
