The Silberra PAN160 is a black and white film. It is offered by the Silberra brand from Saint Petersburg, Russia. The film material was probably produced by Agfa.

In addition, there is the Silberra ULTIMA160, which is identical in terms of emulsion, but a thinner base material was used.

The Silberra PAN160 can be used for black and white photography. The emulsion is panchromatic sensitized. ISO 160 is given in the data sheet as the specified value for film speed.

Silberra describes the film stock as fine-grained with a wide tonal range and medium contrasts. The emulsion is composed of two layers. Suggested applications include daylight photography, such as street photography, portrait photography, or architectural photography.

Development of the film

Proper development of the Silberra PAN160 requires a suitable black and white developer. Developing photos can be done both in professional photo labs and at home with the appropriate equipment. When developing film, the choice of film developer is critical to the final result.

There is no precise development specification from the manufacturer for each combination of PAN160 film and film developer. Nevertheless, to achieve optimal results, it is recommended to develop test strips with different settings. After film development, film strips with the captured photos are obtained.

The images can then be used either as analog prints or digitally by scanning. In this process, many developing laboratories directly offer the service of creating prints in different sizes.

Digitization

Digitizing images in digital form can be done using a scanner by scanning the film strips. While photo labs often offer services to digitize negatives, it is also possible to purchase a scanner for your own use. The digitized results can be used in a variety of formats, whether digital or hard copy.

Formats of the Silberra PAN160

The PAN160 is available exclusively for 35mm format. With a normal image size, 36 images will fit on the film. Manufacturers such as Porst, Olympus and Fujifilm have suitable models for the 35mm format in their range.

It should be noted that not all cameras have an ISO setting of ISO 160. Here you can then switch to ISO 200 and slightly extend the development.

Storage

The quality of subsequent photographs is ensured by optimal storage of unexposed material to prevent alteration.

The Silberra PAN 160 should be stored in a dry and cool place for best results. After exposing the film, it is advisable to develop it promptly to avoid possible loss of quality.
