The Polaroid Color i-Type Basquiat Edition Film pays homage to Jean-Michel Basquiat, the legendary Brooklyn artist known for his bold color and compositional skills. This film brings a new dimension to instant photography by incorporating Basquiat's unique aesthetic into every frame.

This edition was presented in spring 2024. An edition of the Polaroid Now was also presented in a similar design.

Inspired by Basquiat's chaotic yet calculated improvisation, the film presents ten unique frame designs in a twin pack of 8 photos per film cassette. Each frame is decorated with a Basquiat artwork, capturing the essence of his vibrant, expressive works.

A new perspective on color and creativity

Much like Basquiat played with seemingly contradictory forces such as control and spontaneity, menace and wit, urban imagery and primitivism, the Basquiat Edition Film challenges photographers to go beyond traditional color compositions and explore new creative avenues.

The images created with this film are not just snapshots, but also works of art in themselves. They invite you to see the world through Basquiat's eyes and discover the beauty in unpredictability.

Format and cameras

The Polaroid Color i-Type Basquiat Edition Film is designed for the latest Polaroid and Impossible camera models. It is not compatible with older models. The films are available from the Polaroid online store, with each pack containing an eight-shot cassette.

This special edition stands out from traditional instant film with its unique frames and homage to Basquiat's art. The image development process begins immediately after ejection and typically takes about 15 minutes.
