The Lomography Redscale XR 50-200 120 is a redscale film. It is an inverted color negative film in medium format.
The Lomography Redscale XR 50-200 120 can be used in medium format cameras. Depending on the camera, the possible number of images differs. At 6x6 cm, 12 images fit on the film. As a normal color negative film (exposed the right way around) it has a sensitivity of ISO 400, but by exposing through the back it loses some of that.
The XR stands for Extended Range and should indicate that depending on the selected ISO setting other color tones come out. If you set the ISO on the camera to ISO 200, you get strong red and orange tones. At ISO 25 you get a cooler retro look. Of course, it can be overexposed even more, then you get even less red and orange tones and the images become more normal.
By the way, this is the case with all redscale films and not just a feature of this film. Which is the right ISO number, everyone has to find out for himself. The best way is to make an exposure series. You simply take a photo with each setting and can decide later which one you like best.
During development, the set ISO number does not normally have to be specified, since the development process (C-41) is a standardized process and there are not different development times for different sensitivities, as is the case with black-and-white films.
