The Kodak Eastman Double-X 5222 is a black and white film. It is manufactured by Kodak in the USA. The film material is intended for the production of cinema films. The material is said to have been used for Hollywood films such as Kill Bill and Casino Royal.
But the Kodak Eastman Double-X 5222 can also be used for regular photography. The sensitization of the film is panchromatic. The sensitivity of the film is indicated with ISO 250. But it can be pushed or pulled several steps.
Development of the film
The Eastman Double-X 5222 must be developed in a developer for black and white films. The exposed film can be delivered to some developing laboratories in Germany. But it is also possible to do the development yourself. With a flatbed scanner the finished negatives can be digitalized.

Formats
The Eastman Double-X 5222 is available in the formats 35mm and 16mm. However, the film is only sold in large quantities, on reels of at least 122 meters, and not directly to private individuals. There are some suppliers who sell the film material to private photographers.
The unexposed film material should be kept in a dry and dark place for longer storage. The temperature should be below 13 degrees Celsius. After exposure it should be processed promptly for best possible results.
An alternative to the Eastman Double-X 5222 is the Kodak TRI-X 400*. This is also very flexible in use and in any case easier to get.
