The Astrum Photo 100 is a black and white film. The film is distributed by Astrum Ltd.. Astrum is a company from the Ukraine. The company was founded in the 90s and distributes among other things aerial films. Later it took over the remains of the Soviet company Svema.

It is questionable whether this photographic film, as one reads some of it, is produced in the old Svema factory in Shostka (Ukraine). It is more likely that the film is only packed or even marketed by Astrum. A possible candidate would be the Aviphot Pan 80S, which is also in the Rollei Retro 80S.

The Astrum Photo 100 in combination with a suitable camera allows the creation of monochrome images. It is panchromatically sensitized. The sensitivity of the film is specified as ISO 100. Its spectral sensitivity goes up to 750 nm.

Development of the film

To develop the Astrum Foto 100 film, it is necessary to use a black and white developer. The development can either be done by a photo lab or you can do it yourself with suitable photo chemistry. The use of different developing chemicals can affect the contrast, film grain, and grayscale of the image. If no specifications are available for the specific combination of film and developer, one must use similar film stock as a guide or experiment.

The development process results in the creation of film strips containing the captured images. Afterwards, it is possible to make prints of the images or scan them for digital applications. Photo labs often directly offer the service of creating prints in various sizes. The digitization of the Astrum Foto 100 negatives can be done with a scanner. There are professional photo scanners that provide the best scanning result, but also scanners for home use in different price ranges.

After digitization, the photos can be further processed in digital form or shared on social media. However, it is important to keep in mind that the Astrum Foto 100 is a film with high resolution and fine details, which requires careful handling and high-quality scanning equipment to achieve the best possible image quality.

Formats

The Astrum Photo 100 was only available in 35mm format. Usually 36 photos fit on one roll of film. The cartridge containing the film material has no DX coding. The 35mm film is cast onto a polyester carrier.
