Zenit AM2

The Zenit AM2 is an SLR camera. It was produced by KMZ from 1992 to 1997 and is the successor of the Zenit AM.

The lenses of the Zenit AM2 are interchangeable. It comes with the Pentax K bayonet. The MC Helios-44K-4 is often the standard lens. The model does not have autofocus. Therefore, you have to focus by hand.

A light meter has been built into the Zenit AM2. The metering of the correct exposure is done through the lens of the SLR camera. Depending on the photographer's preference, the aperture and exposure time can be selected.

A Bulb setting is available on the Zenit AM2. Here, the shutter is open for a variable time.

Per Hot Shoe, an external flash unit can be used with the 35 mm camera. The 35 mm camera has a thread for a tripod. In addition, a cable release can be connected.

Films for the Zenit AM2

The Zenit AM2 is loaded with 35mm film. 35mm film is still in production. One possible film for color images is the Kodak Ultramax 400*. A possibility for B&W images is the AgfaPhoto APX 400*.

The color film is processed in the C-41 development process. This development process is offered by most laboratories. The B&W film must be processed in the appropriate photochemistry for black and white. Although you can also send the film to the lab for development, you will get better results if you develop the film yourself.

The advantages of developing at home are full control over the images and the cost, after the initial cost, is also lower than developing in a professional photo lab.

The exposure area of the camera is 24 mm x 36 mm. At this size, 36 images fit on a normal film. The film is wound manually in the camera.
