The Samsung SF-100 is a compact snapshot camera for the 35mm film format that was offered by the South Korean electronics company Samsung. The camera is of course no longer available.
As a typical representative of its class, it has a fixed lens with a focal length of 35 mm and a maximum aperture of f/4.5. There is no autofocus, the distance setting is fixed.
The camera is equipped with an integrated flash. The flash cannot be switched off.
Two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) are required for power, which support all of the camera's functions. This type of battery is very easy to find.
The camera does not have a tripod thread. There is also no self-timer.
Films for the Samsung SF-100
Commercially available 35mm films can be used for the Samsung SF-100. Although the 35mm format is considered technically outdated compared to newer digital image recording processes, it continues to enjoy great popularity with a loyal following. This means that some manufacturers still produce films for this format.
Well-known examples of color negative films are the Fujifilm Superia 400* or the Kodak Gold 200*, while the Ilford Delta 400* or the Ilford Delta 100* are popular black and white films.
Color negative films are developed using the C-41 process, which is offered by most photo labs. The Samsung SF-100 negatives are in the standard 24 mm x 36 mm format, which means that around 36 exposures can be accommodated on a standard film roll. The camera has an automatic film transport that automatically advances the film after each shot.
Value of the camera
Production of the Samsung SF-100 has been discontinued, so it is now only available on the second-hand market. The prices for used copies vary depending on condition and demand. Of course, the camera is not very valuable.
